Yeah, maybe. [He shrugs] In the meantime, I have friends who are helping me, so I guess that's good enough. I can't complain.

Right, sorry. Of all people I guess I should know what it's like to be stuck in the dark. I still don't really get the sniffing thing though. I couldn't smell shit when I was you, and I definitely couldn't see using my nose or whatever.

Well, I'm getting a bit better at it, though I still really suck. It's going to take a lot of practice to get good like tz. [He shrugs, leaning against Dave's shoulder again, so there] It's hard to explain. I definitely can't see using my nose, but I figure the better I get, the more I'll be able to figure out where things are based on scent and taste. I don't think I'll ever be able to...experience sight like I could before.

[ whoops, this is a little sad. he wonders if he's taking his sight for granted. ] ... Sorry. Must be hard. Like, I know it's hard; I've been there, but I already had some idea of where things were slash what they looked like. You didn't really get that chance. Maybe that'll make it easier to focus on how things smell, feel and taste instead of how they look. [ SHRUG dave you're so bad at peptalking. ]

[Sollux didn't really mean for it to be sad, but he realizes with a little startlement that Dave is trying to cheer him up, and he smiles shyly at that.]

It's okay. It's hard, yeah, but what I lived with before was harder. And it's getting better faster than I expected, actually.

If you ever need an arm or whatever to guide you around, I guess I've got two of them free for use.

[He doesn't really know why, but that offer makes him blush a little again. It's one thing to be helped by Terezi and Karkat, trolls he's known for sweeps and who are his friends. Even that, he hadn't necessarily expected.

He ducks his head a bit, licking his lips, which feel a little dry.]

[ nonchalant. he's not even going to make fun of that blush. ] It's hard being blind. Besides, we're friends, aren't we?

[He grimaces and turns his head away from Dave, though he's still leaning his back against him.]

[ draping an arm over sollux, hand curled into a fist. bro fistbump all up in here. ]

[He smiles a little and lifts his hand, bumping his fist into Dave's, though he nearly misses.]

[ taking his hand back, snorting as he does. ] You're already improving. If that was me I wouldn't have been even close.

I could sort of tell where it was because of where your arm was.

[But it does feel nice for Dave to be encouraging him like this, even if he knows it's just human friendship pity, not real romantic pity. He has to keep reminding himself of that]

Cheat. I take it back, I'm not impressed at all.

[He twists around and leans in close, as if to lick Dave on the cheek, then pulls back, grinning] Careful.

[ raising his eyebrows. you wanna play this game, huh??? ] I've got no reason to be.

Oh? Changed your mind, then?

[He rests his chin on your shoulder, Dave, and inhales deeply]

I seem to remember you still owe me something.

[ he's... conveniently forgotten whatever that was, and you can clearly see it all over his face. or, well, maybe not. ha. ha. ha. blind jokes. ] ... What was that?

I think you said you'd show me 'how it's done' when you were back in your own body.

[ oh. shit, he did say that, didn't he... ] Someone's sure eager.

I'm just pointing it out. If you're still making excuses, well, it's no more than what I expected.

[He draws back and stretches out on his back on the bed with his head pillowed on his hands. It's a bit of a difficult position for him, simply because now he's not touching Dave and only has a general idea of where he is, but he'll feel and hear movement, so it's okay]

[ ugh, jerk. why is it so easy to manipulate a strider? ]

[Sollux shrugs] Unless you want to go out there and play with the fuzzy bunnies instead. I'm right here, and we're alone. Seems like a good place and time.
